Why join the club?

Because it is a non-profit association that, for nearly 130 years, has brought together lovers of the French Bulldog — and so every owner of this singular and incomparable breed has a place here!

Over time, with several thousand births each year, the French Bulldog has become a popular national breed that brings its joie de vivre into many homes.

Because of this popularity, the breed is at the same time affected by dog dealers and uninformed individuals who buy and breed bulldog-looking dogs with no selection for health or temperament, so that too many dogs — biters or chronically ill — end up in already overcrowded shelters.

We therefore need to be numerous so that our association can be even more representative with canine and veterinary bodies, and thus better able to defend the breed, which is threatened by the propaganda found in the press reporting alleged widespread poor welfare and health problems, based on statistics that fail to distinguish between the poor dogs bred purely for profit and those bred by individuals and breeders who are members of our association and who, following our guidance, work to move the breed away from the health issues it is accused of.

Joining the Club du Bouledogue Français therefore means joining a community of enthusiasts who work together for the preservation, promotion, and sound development of the breed. Your membership dues directly support the club's work: health monitoring of the breed, organization of annual national breeding shows, numerous regional shows throughout France, support for breeders and owners, and the dissemination of reliable information to all French Bulldog enthusiasts.

It also means being assured of access to a mutual support network, privileged access to member-only resources, and active participation in the life and decisions of the club.
